About The Author

Dr Don O’Leary is a historian and scientist.

He worked in University College Cork from 1978 to 2017, providing technical support for scientific research, mainly in neuroscience. In parallel with this he studied history and was awarded a Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland in 1996. Most of his research is focused on the relationship between Catholicism and science, both internationally and in relation to Ireland.

He is the author of Vocationalism and Social Catholicism in Twentieth-Century Ireland (Irish Academic Press, 2000), Roman Catholicism and Modern Science (Continuum/ Bloomsbury, 2006), and Irish Catholicism and Science (Cork University Press, 2012).
